Newlyweds? Dwight Howard and Amy Luciani Cozy Up in Rare Public Sighting Since Engagement
Dwight Howard and Amy Luciani shocked everyone when they went from seemingly total strangers to an engaged couple overnight. But fans estimate that they’d been dating for a while before they hard-launched their relationship in December 2024. Since then, the NBA star and the rapper have been anything but demure on social media.
Regarding public events, we finally got a good look at them at a Captain America: Brave New World screening. And we’re quite certain that the couple has already gotten married.

On December 20, 2024, Luciani posted a series of videos and photos to Instagram with the caption, “I was enjoying you so much out of the public eye but here we are. Thank you for bringing me back to the word. Anything I say or fuss about, first thing you say is ‘Did you pray about it?’ Then I realized I hadn’t been praying much lately at all.” In the first video, Howard admires Luciani’s left hand, which sports a gigantic square-shaped diamond engagement ring. The 2020 NBA champion is wearing a diamond band on his left ring finger.
Luciani’s post continues, “I’m just thankful, happy and ready for everything that’s coming our way. I prayed reallllll deep on a Thursday not knowing 2 days later God would send me a Bible totin, tattood giant with the same heart and smile as me. Thank you.” Howard also posted on Instagram on December 20. The 39-year-old wrote, “Happy #blacklove #prayedforthis.” This three-photo carousel showed the couple arm in arm on the red carpet for a special December 18 screening of the action crime film Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.
We can gather from the sudden social media posts that Howard and Luciani have been together since his birthday on December 8. (A video shows him blowing out the candle on a cake.) But we suspect they’ve been together longer.
Since their hard launch on December 20, Howard and Luciani have traveled to Thailand, celebrated the holidays, and enjoyed many date nights together. Luciani, a Detroit native, began her music career in a girl group called Entrance with her sisters before moving to Atlanta to pursue a solo career. After rising to fame on season 11 of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, she’s become a successful rapper and reality TV personality.
On January 12, 2025, Luciani posted a series of videos from the Sphere in Las Vegas. The 34-year-old waved her left hand in the air, where you could see that a thick diamond band was added to her left ring finger alongside her engagement ring. Next came a series of Instagram snaps of the couple walking down the aisle inside what looks like a Vegas-style wedding chapel. Luciani’s caption simply reads, “You & Me.”
If those weren’t clues enough that the pair leveled up to husband and wife, Luciani turned heads two days ago when she posted a video of the couple sharing a single toothbrush. While getting ready in a bathroom, Howard and Luciani chatted and passed a toothbrush between themselves. The not-so-hygenic toothbrush-sharing might’ve distracted followers from the rapper’s caption.
Luciani wrote, “When I say I been enjoying married lifeeeeee. I’m currently learning how cook … Im tryna get back to work and doing content but I can’t stay out my husbands skin yet. Give me one more week.”
Additionally, on February 13, Howard posted an Instagram video of him and Luciani in Thailand, laughing and floating on a kayak together. He added about 50 flag emojis with the caption, “Help us make our decision #happyvalentinesday #honeymoon #honeymoontravel #love.”
Between a honeymoon and mention of “husband” and “married,” things seem maritally official. And the couple seems more comfortable stepping out together. On February 12, Howard and Luciani attended the tastemaker screening of Captain America: Brave New World in Atlanta. Cozying up to her 6-foot-10 husband, Luciani smiled contentedly while Howard looked relaxed with his arm around her waist. We wish the (likely) newlyweds all the best.
